What is Anusara™ Yoga
Anusara (a-nu-sar-a) means “flowing with Grace”, “going with the flow”, “following your heart”…
Anusara Yoga™ is a heart-oriented, inspiring and powerful hatha yoga system that unifies a philosophy of intrinsic Goodness with Universal Principles of Alignment. It is a unique, therapeutic style of Hatha Yoga in which the artistic expression of the human heart blends magically with the scientific principles of biomechanics. Anusara was founded and created by John Friend.
Each class begins with an invocation or centering and follows a theme used to help the student find a connection between the poses and a greater purpose. Movements and actions within each pose are coordinated with the breath and suggestions or adjustments are made as necessary to enhance the poses. Classes are concluded with Savasana, meditation or a quiet centering in order to help the students assimilate and honor the experience of the class. Students are asked to continue to embody the heart theme "off the mat" in their daily life.
